A Short Description of Transpersonal
Psychology |
|
-
Transpersonal Psychology looks at the psyche
through a widened and deepened framework. It
is concerned with the human identity,
exceeding the confines of the ego, by
addressing the entire structure of
body-mind-soul, whose elements are
inseparably intertwined.
-
Transpersonal Psychology is a holistic
approach that explores the possibility of a
balanced development of all aspects of human
life – intellectual, emotional, spiritual,
physical, social and creative, in harmony
with the idea of the interconnectedness of
Existence and the Universe.
-
Transpersonal Psychology is a
depth
psychology and a continuation of the
research of conciousness begun by S. Freud,
K.G. Yung, O. Rank and W. Reich. Yung was
the first to introduce the term
“transpersonal.”
-
Transpersonal Psychology studies different
states and levels of conciousness, using
their potential for therapeutic ends as well
as for achieving self-actualization and
personal development.
-
Transpersonal psychology recognizes both
analytical and non-analytical methods of
learning, by examining and borrowing ideas
from the various philosophical, spiritual
and healing practices of human civilizations
throughout history.
